Cebu City, retains landmarks from its 16th-century Spanish colonial past, including the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño church and triangular Fort San Pedro. This city is definitely a place full of history, culture, and art. On this tour, you'll be visiting the best spots of it as well as the UNESCO heritage sites at the same time that you'll be learning from its history and hearing interesting facts by some of our friendly guides.
Our tour begins at Fort San Pedro: located in Independence Park, this old Spanish settlement symbolizes Spain’s military presence and conquest in the area. From here, we will take a "calesa” (horse-drawn carriage) ride to the Plaza Sugbu in front of City Hall before continuing by foot around "Old Cebu.”
Visit Magellan’s Cross (planted by Ferdinand Magellan in 1521), the Basilica Minore of the Child Jesus, the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral (the seat of the Archdiocese of Cebu), and the Museum of Sacred Treasures.
A short "calesa” ride away is the Plaza Parian where we will see the elegant ancestral homes of Spanish and Chinese Filipinos. Admire Heritage Monument, a bronze sculpture by the great Filipino artist Eduardo Castillo that depicts different eras of Cebu’s history.
Feel the elegance of
19th century life during our short stop at the Yap-Sandiego home or the Casa Gorordo. We will end with a final drive down Colon Street, the country’s oldest avenue, before returning to your hotel.
