Most people tend to visit Xochimilco in the morning, but that's not the way the locals go about it. If you really want to have the mariachis all for yourself and experience the colorful excursion of the lights of the trajineras as the sun sets, this tour is for you.
You will also be able to visit the first city built by the Spaniards in Latin America, Coyoacan. This traditional area of Mexico City is known for its great cantinas and lively streets.
After meeting at Hostal Amigo in Mexico City's downtown you will be taken to the famous are of Xochimilco. During the ride, the guide will provide a small introduction on the history of the city and the different sites you’ll pass by on the way to Xochimilco.
Once there, you’ll board one of the traditional Mexican boats and enjoy a ride across the canals listening to real mariachis perform live on your boat and drinking tequila. After three songs everyone seems to understand why this is still a very popular place for Mexicans to celebrate and party.
We will then head to the center of Coyoacan, where you’ll enjoy its illuminated streets, around Plaza Centenario and Jardín Hidalgo.
During the week, this town is quite calm, so you’ll feel as if you were walking on a Magical Town. On the weekends, you’ll see this place filled with people, which makes it more attractive.
Regardless of when you go to Coyoacan, there will always be a traditional cantina open where you can choose to have a drink with the locals before heading down to Mexico City Downtown area.
