Description

Discover Oaxaca and try its delicious food in a one-day round trip tour from CDMX. Have a wonderful time at this  beautiful, colorful and magical city declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage and visit the ruins of Monte Albán and the center of the Oaxaca capital.

Itinerary Overview

Our amazing experience starts very early in the morning from the Historic Center of Mexico City towards the capital of the state of Oaxaca, a cradle of great cultures such as the Zapotec and Mixtec, as well as important characters in the history of Mexico. Their traditions, their buildings, their parties, its colors, music, dances and gastronomy are a reflection of their 4000 years of history. We will experience all of this during our tour, spending around 5 hours in the city of Oaxaca de Juárez. On our way, we will make a brief stop to buy snacks or drinks and arrive at Oaxaca around 11:00 in the morning.

Our excursion begins at the impressive archaeological site of Monte Albán, one of the most important cities of Mesoamerica and the first archaeological site in Mexico that UNESCO declared as a World Heritage.  Our visit to Monte Alban will last approximately 2 hours and will make you understand and appreciate the history of this place, in addition to impressing you with a landscape built over 2000 years ago by ancient Zapotecs. Their language is one of the indigenous languages that are still spoken in the country and we will surely listen to it as we walk through the streets of Oaxaca.

Our tour continues through the city of Oaxaca, where we will walk through the Benito Juárez Market’s corridors full of aromas, colors and flavors; then, we will have free time to eat somewhere in the city center, the Zocalo, while enjoying this busy and picturesque square. After delighting the palate, we will continue through the Zocalo and visit the Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion Cathedral, the most important temple of the city and one of the first buildings to be constructed after the Spanish conquest; to finish up, we will walk through the pleasant and festive Tourist Walkway, a street full of colors that highlight the elegant colonial architecture that characterizes Oaxaca. The walkway will lead us to the Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, a city gem that we cannot get enough of. The majesty of this construction will make you appreciate the artistic richness and complex history of the area.

Departure from Oaxaca will be at around 5:00 p.m. and arrive at the meeting point in Mexico City at approximately 11:00 pm, depending on traffic conditions.
