On this tour, you will get to know by closer Guadalajara and Tlaquepaque culture and traditions with a guided visit to the best spots in these places.
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in a minivan and take you to the historic center of Guadalajara to start a sightseeing tour of the city.
Your first stop is at the Plaza de Armas, where you will see the cathedral with its twin towers invested as Alcatraz. This is one of the most magnificent monuments of the city, and its interior is richly decorated with gold leaf columns, gothic arches and stained glass paintings of the Last Supper.
At the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, where theater, dance
and music are performed, you will see another example of the imposing architecture of Guadalajara. This also includes a popular museum that homes modernist murals.
Admire the neoclassical Teatro Degollado design, before continuing to the Plaza de la Rotonda, located on the north side of the cathedral. Here, your guide will explain Jalisco’s Rotonda, a circular monument of 20 bronze sculptures in honor of several illustrious people of the state of Jalisco.
Then you will walk with your guide through Libertad Market, also known as San Juan de Dios’ Market, one of the biggest traditional markets of Mexico. You’ll see the local sellers auctioning everything from imported products, typical sweets, flowers,
panchos, traditional clothing and leather goods.
Later, the unit will lead to Tlaquepaque, a small colonial town just 4 miles (7 kilometers) southeast of downtown Guadalajara. Enjoy free time touring through the narrow cobbled streets and admire the beautiful architecture or buy a delicious traditional food and drink for lunch (on your own). You will have the opportunity to walk through the craft markets of Tlaquepaque, where you can find Mexican wood carvings, ceramics
goods, before your guide take you back to your hotel in Guadalajara.
