Ride in the most complicated train to build in history and see the oldest and most famous Inca ruins in Ecuador in one wonderful journey.
We will first go to the railroad station in "Alausi” located 160 km north of the city of Cuenca; on the route taken we will see unforgettable Andean Landscapes, and then arrive in San Pedro de Alausi. Here we begin a dramatic decline of 1.5 hours on the original train of the time, which goes by the famous "Devils Nose” mountain; this railroad was recognized as one of the world’s greatest engineering achievements of the 20th century. Your ride will move forward and backward in order to be able to go down and up this steep mountain, weird right?
After getting off the train we will continue our trip to visit the most important archeological site of Ecuador, the Ingapirca Ruins. On this site you will take the local tour (tickets not included) to understand how and why this site became so important for the Incas during their short stay in Ecuador (less than 40 years) and how you can recognize the different types of architecture depending on the civilization of the time.
After such an incredible journey we will return to Cuenca and drop you off at your hotel in town.
