Cuenca is full of beautiful plazas, all around. So it is just normal that this city tour will start at one of them, you will be visiting Museums, Markets, Cathedrals, wonderful neighborhoods and special spots.
Plaza San Sebastian, our first stop is located in the western colonial border of the city of Cuenca. After learning a bit about this plaza's history, we will visit the "Modern Arts Museum", a place to enjoy the contemporary style of local artists in a city that has been the place for many of the most famous culture characters in the country.
We will walk by the downtown historical area to visit the "San Francisco" market, the famous flower market (Ecuador is the largest flower exporter in the World), the "Culture House", the "Abdon Calderon" Park (named after a famous libertarian veteran), and the Old Cathedral (to which we will not enter). We will, however, enter in the New Cathedral, it’s the biggest in the country and inside you can observe the famous gold leaf canopy!
We continue the tour to the "Homero Ortega Panama Hat" factory to observe the complete process of manufacturing a Panama hat, a very important and antique tradition in our country. Later we will visit the "barranco” neighborhood with its colonial style terraced houses located next to the "Tomebamba River”.
To finalize our itinerary, we will go the "broken bridge” and visit the tourist balcony of "Turi” where we can see a panoramic view of the whole city of Cuenca. We will drop you at your hotel after that thorough journey!
